Countdown to Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

With less than six months until the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, and with much of the new construction work completed, or near completion, ICN has been working with Lendlease on projects to prepare sites for the infrastructure needed for a successful event.

ICN Queensland consultant, Abhi Arora, who has been embedded with the Games for several years, said the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Overlay Delivery project was to be delivered across 15 existing sites on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville.

‘Project procurement will occur late 2017, with delivery works to be completed by the Games commencement in April 2018,’ he said.

‘Reinstatement works will commence immediately after the Games, and be completed by June 2018, varying by venue.’

Trades required are likely to include:

  • Carpentry and general building works
  • Temporary Electrical Services
  • Temporary Hydraulic Services
  • Minor Civil and Pavement Works
  • Landscaping
  • Flagpole Supply and Installation
  • Precast Concrete Flagpole Ballast
  • Shade structures.

‘Lendlease has been appointed the delivery partner for these works and all trade works will be directly contracted to Lendlease,’ Abhi said.

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will take place from 4 to 15 April 2018.
